The time has come that I need to close the door on the Tinder quest, never to look back at it again. Well, I guess that’s not entirely true. I’ll definitely be using this experience in job interviews…
Three weeks ago, my blog post went “viral” and created a flurry of attention in the media. My last post explains my personal thoughts on my journey, in which I am ready to say goodbye to my 15 minutes of fame.
Soon, I will be contacting Tinder to shut down the account. Without discovering the person behind “Kim” I am forced to convert to normalcy and do what every other person with a fake account does, tattle. My journey has taken me farther than I had ever imagined, and I’ve enjoyed every second of it.
If you’ve been keeping up with my blog posts throughout this quest, you’d know that I am not angry or upset that someone has stolen my pictures and are posing as me on Tinder. Instead, I am curious. Many have asked me, “what would you say if you found the person?” This, my friends, is an excellent question. Here is my answer:
Hello fake Kristin aka “Kim,”
This is the real person in all of the pictures that you’ve been using on Tinder and whatever other social media platforms you’ve been manipulating. I’ve launched a quest to find the person behind the “Kim” account and it has been a success, which is where you play into things. I’m shocked that you haven’t read about or seen anything regarding my search to find you. I actually have a few questions for you… First, are you a male or female? Be honest. I’ve been placing bets that you’re an old, creepy man trying to sweet-talk college aged boys, but that’s just an assumption. Second, what is your end goal in posing as me on Tinder? You know that Tinder is a “dating app,” essentially a hookup app, that allows users to find people in their area to hangout with. So, don’t you think that when you convince someone to meet up with you that they will not be understanding that you are clearly not who you say you are? Third, where did you find my pictures? Do we have mutual friends that led you to my Facebook page? I would also like to know if you’ve ever used it to meet up with someone and how that played out for you. I’m guessing not very well… I hope to hear a response because I, and the rest of the world, am curious to hear a “real” voice behind the account.
P.S. Thank you for the weird, perverted backhanded compliment of stealing my pictures. A simple compliment would work better next time.
